“No school information found” on NELFUND means the portal cannot find your institution’s record of you — usually because your institution has not yet uploaded your student data for the session, or because you selected the wrong institution. It does not mean you are ineligible, and it does not mean your admission is invalid. It means the verification lookup came back empty, and the fix is almost always on the institution side, not by retyping your details.
This is one of the most alarming NELFUND messages, because it sounds like a verdict. It is not. It is a lookup result, and lookups fail for mundane reasons.
What causes it
- Your institution has not uploaded your records yet. Institutions upload student data to the NELFUND Student Verification Portal in batches, per session. New intakes and continuing students are both affected when their batch has not been uploaded. NELFUND’s own portal-opening announcements ask institutions to update and upload verified records of both returning and newly admitted students — precisely because applications fail without this step.
- You selected the wrong institution. A similar name, a wrong campus, or an affiliating university selected instead of your college (or vice versa) returns no record for you, because your record sits under a different institution name.
- Your identifier does not match the uploaded record. A JAMB number, admission number, or matric number that differs from what your institution uploaded — by a digit, a prefix, or a format — returns no match.
- Your institution is not onboarded. If your institution has not been onboarded onto the NELFUND portal at all, there is no record to find, for any of its students.
What to do, in order
Step 1: Stop and check your own inputs first, because they are the fastest to rule out. Confirm you selected the exact institution name on your admission letter, and that your JAMB/admission/matric number matches your official records digit by digit. Do not change your details repeatedly to force a match — if they are correct, changing them creates a new mismatch.
Step 2: Contact your institution — student affairs, the ICT unit, or the NELFUND desk — and ask one specific question: “Have my student records been uploaded to the NELFUND Student Verification Portal for this session?” Bring your full name, your identifier (JAMB/admission/matric number), your programme, and your level. A vague “NELFUND is not working for me” gets a vague answer; the specific question gets a specific check.
Step 3: If your institution confirms your records have been uploaded and are correct, but the portal still shows no school information, contact NELFUND support through official channels with your application reference, the exact error message, and your institution’s confirmation. The gap may be transmission — records uploaded but not yet available to the portal’s lookup — and only NELFUND can confirm that.
Step 4: If your institution has not yet uploaded your records, wait for the upload and apply (or retry) within the session’s application window. Check the portal for the current session’s window, and do not assume a previous session’s dates still apply.
Step 5: Do not create a second account, submit a duplicate application, or select a different institution to work around the message. None of those creates a record where none exists, and all of them complicate verification once the real record is uploaded.
What not to do
- Do not pay anyone to “fix” this. Agents who promise to upload your school information for a fee are not NELFUND, and cannot upload your institution’s records — only your institution can.
- Do not use a fake portal. The official portal is portal.nelf.gov.ng. A lookalike site that shows you a record is showing you a fabrication.
- Do not assume rejection. “No school information found” is a verification lookup result, not a rejection decision. Rejection is a separate status with its own reasons — see the rejection guide.

Frequently asked questions
Does “no school information found” mean my school is not eligible? Not necessarily. It most often means your records have not been uploaded yet for this session. Eligibility and upload are different things — check with your institution which one applies to you.
How long does an institution upload take? There is no published fixed duration — institutions upload in batches, on their own schedules, before and during application windows. Follow up with your institution rather than relying on a general timeframe.
My classmates’ records were found but mine was not. Why? Because uploads happen in batches, and because individual records can differ — a wrong digit, a different programme code, or a record held under a different name format. Check your own identifier and records first, then ask your institution to check your specific record.
Can I apply with a different institution’s name to get past this? No. Selecting a different institution does not verify you, and creates a record mismatch that will block you later. Use the institution on your admission and enrolment records.

- No fixed upload duration is asserted — institutions upload on their own schedules, so the article directs follow-up rather than a timeframe.
