Log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open UTME Data Correction, pay the ₦2,500 portal fee for the correction, then complete the change at an accredited CBT centre or JAMB office — and print your correction slip. Changing your course does not guarantee admission; it only changes which course your application is considered for.
The cost of a wrong course choice is not the fee. It is changing to a course your subjects, O’Level grades or score cannot support, and discovering that at screening. This article puts the checks before the steps, because the steps are easy and the choice is not.
Before you change: four checks
1. Does the new course fit your UTME subject combination? You can only change to a course related to your UTME subjects. A candidate who wrote English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry cannot switch to Law and expect to be considered — the subject combination will screen you out. Check the JAMB brochure entry for the new course before you pay anything.
2. Do you meet the O’Level requirements for the new course? Check the required O’Level subjects and credits for the new course, including English and Mathematics where required. A course change does not waive O’Level requirements.
3. Does your score reach the new course’s cut-off? Check your institution’s departmental cut-off for the new course, and your aggregate on its formula — see How to Calculate JAMB Aggregate Score and JAMB Cut-Off Mark for Universities Explained. Changing to a course with a higher cut-off than your aggregate is a wasted fee.
4. Does the institution actually offer the new course? Confirm it in the institution’s brochure entry. The correction form will not stop you from making every possible mistake — it will only record the one you submit.

How to change your course, step by step
Step 1: Log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng with your registered email and password.
Step 2: From the services list, open Registration, then UTME Data Correction (or DE Data Correction for Direct Entry). For registrations from 2021 downward, JAMB provides a separate Application for Correction of Data (2021 Downward) route — use the one that matches your registration year.
Step 3: Select Course/Institution as the correction type, and pay the portal fee of ₦2,500 for the correction (online card payment or bank payment via Remita RRR). If you do the whole process at a CBT centre, the centre will add its own service charge on top of the ₦2,500 — confirm the total before you start.
Step 4: Visit an accredited CBT centre or JAMB office to complete the correction. Bring your registration number and profile details. The operator will enter your new course choice(s) — you can change one or all of your course choices in the same process.
Step 5: Check the correction slip printed at the centre, line by line, before you leave. Confirm the new course, institution, and every other detail. A correction submitted with a new error is a second problem, not a fix.
Step 6: Keep the correction slip. It is your proof of the change, and the reference if anything does not reflect on your profile afterwards.
How many times can you change course?
Guides disagree on this — some say once, some say twice, some say as many times as you pay for. The structured JAMB process note most often cited says course/institution corrections can be done more than once, each time with a separate ₦2,500 payment, while personal-data corrections (name, date of birth, gender, state/LGA) can only be done once each.
Treat that as the practical rule: course changes can be repeated if you pay again, but do not plan on it. Every change costs money, every change resets your consideration for that course, and the window closes as admission processes end. Make the change once, correctly, with the checks above done first.
When can you change course?
Change of course opens after UTME results are released, and generally stays open until institutions close their admission processes for the cycle. JAMB does not publish a single fixed closing date for it in advance — so do not wait for a deadline announcement. If you know you need to change, change early, while your new institution’s screening is still open.
If you have already been admitted on CAPS, do not use the correction form to try to switch courses. Go to the institution’s admission office and JAMB for advice on your situation — a CAPS acceptance is a different process from a pre-admission course change.
Mistakes that waste the fee
- Changing to a course your subjects don’t support. The brochure check takes five minutes. Skipping it costs ₦2,500 and a cycle.
- Changing to a higher cut-off course without checking your aggregate.
- Submitting without checking the correction slip at the centre, then discovering a new typo.
- Changing late, after your new institution’s screening has closed, so the change reflects nowhere useful.
- Paying a third party to “change your course” outside e-Facility and accredited centres. The correction only counts if it goes through JAMB’s system.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to change course on JAMB portal? ₦2,500 per correction on the portal. A CBT centre adds its own service charge, so the total at a centre is higher — confirm it before you start.
Can I change my course and institution at the same time? Yes. The same correction process lets you change one or all of your course and institution choices together.
Can I change course on my phone? The e-Facility portal works on a phone browser, but the correction is completed at an accredited CBT centre or JAMB office, where your biometrics are verified. Do the payment online if you like, but complete the process in person.
How do I confirm the change worked? Log in to e-Facility and check your profile and admission status route, and keep your printed correction slip. If the change does not reflect after a reasonable time, return to the centre with the slip.
Can I change back to my original course? If the window is still open and course changes can still be made, you can submit another correction (paying again). That is why the first change deserves the checks above — reversals are possible but not free.
