PTDF Scholarship Approved Universities

PTDF publishes an approved-universities list for each scheme, each cycle — and that list changes. This guide explains how the list works, what it contains, and where to find it — but it does NOT reproduce a list, deliberately, because any list reproduced here would be out of date the moment PTDF publishes the next cycle’s list. The PTDF official page for the current cycle is the only reliable source for the approved universities.

How the approved-universities list works

  • Per scheme — in-country and overseas have separate lists. A university approved for in-country is not automatically approved for overseas, and vice versa.
  • Per cycle — the list is published for each cycle, and it changes. A university approved last cycle may not be approved this cycle.
  • Per level — some universities are approved for master’s only, others for PhD only, others for multiple levels, as the list states.
  • Published by PTDF — on the PTDF official page, in the cycle’s announcement. No other source’s list is authoritative.

What the list typically contains

  • In-country list — Nigerian universities with strong oil, gas, energy, engineering, and geosciences programmes, as PTDF selects them for the cycle.
  • Overseas list — partner universities abroad with strong oil, gas, energy, engineering, and geosciences programmes, as PTDF selects them for the cycle.
  • Programme-level detail — the list states which programmes at each university are approved, where the announcement gives that detail. Check the programme, not just the university.

How to use the list, in order

  1. Read the cycle’s announcement on the PTDF official page.
  2. Find your scheme’s list (in-country or overseas).
  3. Confirm your university is on the list, for your level and programme, for this cycle.
  4. Secure admission (or apply in parallel, as the scheme requires) to that university.
  5. If your university is not on the list, do not apply with it — choose an approved university, or wait for the next cycle’s list.

Red flags: fake approved lists

  • Lists from agents or groups — not authoritative. Only PTDF’s official page is authoritative.
  • Previous cycle’s lists presented as current — check the cycle date on the announcement.
  • Payment to ‘get on the list’ — universities do not pay to be listed, and applicants do not pay to use the list. Any payment demand is a scam.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the PTDF approved-universities list? On the PTDF official page, in the cycle’s announcement — per scheme (in-country or overseas), per cycle, per level. No list is reproduced here, deliberately, because it changes every cycle.

Is a university approved for in-country also approved for overseas? Not automatically — in-country and overseas have separate lists. Check your scheme’s list for the cycle.

Can I apply to a university not on the PTDF list? No — your university must be on the cycle’s approved list, for your level and programme. If it is not, choose an approved university or wait for the next cycle.

Does the PTDF list change every cycle? Yes — the list is published for each cycle, and it changes. A university approved last cycle may not be approved this cycle.

Can I pay to get a university on the PTDF list? No — universities do not pay to be listed, and applicants do not pay to use the list. Any payment demand is a scam.

Sources and last update

  • Scholarship programmes named here are established programmes as reported; amounts, deadlines, and eligibility change every cycle — the official programme page for the current cycle governs, and no amount or deadline is asserted anywhere in this article, deliberately.
  • Scholarship-vs-loan distinction from the NELFUND cluster guides (Batches 6–10): a scholarship is not repaid; NELFUND is a loan, repayable from 2 years after NYSC at 10% of income.
  • Scam patterns from the fake-agents guide (Batch 12): application fees, guaranteed awards, and payment to personal accounts are red flags.
  • No admission, award, or visa outcome is promised anywhere in this article.
