NYSC runs three batches a year — Batch A, Batch B, and Batch C — and each batch moves through the same cycle: senate list, online registration, call-up letter, orientation camp, PPA posting, and the service year. This guide explains the whole 2026 cycle, batch by batch, so you know where you are and what comes next. Exact dates for each batch come from the NYSC official timetable for that batch — no batch-specific date is asserted anywhere in this article, deliberately, because dates change every batch.
The three batches, explained
- Batch A — the first batch of the year, typically in the first quarter. Batch B — the second batch, typically mid-year. Batch C — the third batch, typically in the last quarter.
- Streams — some batches run in two streams (Stream I and Stream II), with separate camp dates. Your stream is on your call-up letter — check it, do not assume it.
- Your batch is not your choice alone — your institution’s senate-list upload, your graduation timing, and NYSC’s mobilisation schedule decide which batch you fall into. You cannot jump batches by paying anyone.

The full cycle, step by step
- Senate list — your institution uploads your name, course, and graduation details to NYSC. Check your name before registration opens.
- Online registration — on portal.nysc.org.ng, with your documents, passport photograph, and biometric capture.
- Call-up number — issued after registration, on your dashboard.
- Call-up letter — printed from your dashboard; it carries your orientation camp, state, and reporting date.
- Orientation camp — three weeks, in your deployment state.
- PPA posting — your Place of Primary Assignment, after camp.
- Service year — one year of service, with monthly clearance, CDS, and PPA duties.
What to watch for, per batch
- Registration window — short, and portal congestion near the deadline is common. Register early.
- Camp date on your call-up letter — report on the date stated, not the date your friends report.
- Relocation — possible after camp, on grounds NYSC recognises (see the relocation guides). It is not automatic.
- Scams — agents selling batch slots, fake call-up letters, and payment demands are scams. NYSC does not sell batch slots.
Batch A vs Batch B vs Batch C: what actually differs
Almost nothing about the process differs — the phases, the portal, the camp length, and the service year are the same in every batch. What differs is timing: Batch A runs early in the year, Batch B mid-year, Batch C late in the year, and each batch’s exact dates come from its own timetable. Stream splits also vary: some batches run in two streams, others do not, and your stream is on your call-up letter, not on the timetable headline. Do not plan around another batch’s pattern — a batch that ran in two streams last year may not split the same way this year.
How your batch is decided
Three things decide your batch, in order: (1) when you graduate — your result must be ready and your institution must have processed your graduation; (2) when your institution uploads your set to the senate list — institutions upload in sets, and a set uploaded late falls into a later batch; (3) NYSC’s mobilisation schedule — NYSC opens registration windows per batch, and you register in the window your upload falls into. None of these is negotiable by payment. Anyone offering to ‘move’ you to an earlier batch for a fee is running a scam.
Planning around your batch
- Do not book travel before your call-up letter — your deployment state is on the letter, and it is not guaranteed to match your preference.
- Prepare documents during the senate-list wait — certificate or statement of result, identification, passport photograph, and your own email and phone number.
- Keep your dashboard login safe — you will use the same account for your call-up letter, deployment, monthly clearance, and discharge certificate.
- Watch the official portal, not groups — batch dates, registration windows, and camp dates are announced on portal.nysc.org.ng and NYSC’s official channels.
