This is the NYSC hub: the questions every prospective corps member asks, answered briefly, with pointers to the full guides in this cluster. If you are new to NYSC, start here, then read the guide for your stage. If you are mid-service, jump to the guide for your problem. This hub is re-checked whenever a linked guide changes.
Before mobilisation
- Am I eligible? — Full-time graduates under 30 at graduation serve; 30+ at graduation are exempt (exemption guide); part-time, distance, and sandwich graduates are excluded (exclusion guide).
- Is my name on the senate list? — Check on portal.nysc.org.ng before registration opens (senate-list check guide). Missing or wrong: student affairs, before registration (senate-list problems guide).
- When is my batch? — Your batch follows your graduation timing, your institution’s upload, and NYSC’s schedule. The official timetable for the batch governs (batches guide, timetables).

Registration and camp
- How do I register? — On portal.nysc.org.ng, with senate-list entry, certificate, ID, photograph, and biometrics (registration guide, requirements, how-to-register).
- What is my call-up number? — Your unique number after registration, on your dashboard — not your state code (call-up number guide).
- How do I print my call-up letter? — From your dashboard, once released, and check every detail before travelling (call-up letter guide).
- What do I bring to camp? — Documents, white clothing kit, and personal essentials (camp requirements, packing list). Camp runs three weeks for current batches (camp expectations guide).
- Where is my camp? — In your deployment state, on your call-up letter — no stale list governs (camps-by-state guide).
Deployment, PPA, and service
- How does deployment work? — Generally outside your state of origin, camp in the deployment state, PPA after camp (deployment guides).
- Can I relocate? — On recognised grounds (marital, health, security), with evidence, on the portal, during the window — not automatic, not bought (relocation guides).
- What is a PPA? — Your service posting after camp (PPA guide). Choose well on accommodation and transport, not prestige alone (good-PPA guide).
- How much is the allowance? — ₦77,000 per month federal, the same nationwide, from March 2025 (allowance guide). State and PPA top-ups vary — confirm locally.
- What is monthly clearance? — Biometric verification monthly, through your LGI, gating your allowance (clearance guide). CDS weekly feeds it (CDS guide).
Problems and corrections
- Name, date of birth, or course wrong? — Fix the right layer: senate list (institution) or registration (portal process) — see the correction guides. Never re-register, never pay an agent.
- Missed camp? — Revalidate for the next batch (revalidation guide; missed-camp guide). Served then stopped? Remobilisation, not revalidation (remobilisation guide).
- Not mobilised? — Fix the cause through your institution, then enter the next batch (not-mobilised guide).
- Foreign-trained? — Evaluation, then physical verification, then registration, in that order (foreign guides).
- Service rules and bye-laws? — PPA attendance, weekly CDS, monthly clearance, travel permission, and the bye-laws from swearing-in (service-rules guide, bye-laws guide).
Scams: the short list
- Agents selling batch slots, deployment states, relocation, corrections, or revalidation.
- Fake call-up letters, exemption certificates, and exclusion letters.
- Payment demands to personal accounts, for any NYSC process.
- Forwarded timetables, camp lists, and top-up figures, unverified on the portal.
- Every genuine NYSC process runs through portal.nysc.org.ng or your institution, free of agent fees.

Frequently asked questions
